Mark Meadows Appeal

Georgia Interference Case Against Mark Meadows Moves Forward

Court Rejects Meadows' Appeal

Meadows Attempted to Move Case to Federal Court

A federal appeals court has ruled against former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows in his attempt to move his Georgia election interference case to federal court. The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Meadows' appeal on Monday, allowing the case to proceed in state court.

Meadows had argued that his actions as a White House official were protected by federal law and that the state court lacked jurisdiction. However, the appeals court disagreed, finding that Meadows' alleged actions took place outside the scope of his federal employment and that he did not have immunity from state prosecution.

The Georgia case against Meadows stems from allegations that he pressured state officials to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Meadows has denied wrongdoing and has said he will continue to fight the charges.
