Remarkable Life and Legacy

Kane Tanaka, who held the title of the world's oldest living person, passed away in Japan at the ripe age of 119, according to a statement released by the country's Ministry of Health. Her extraordinary life spanned two world wars, the 1918 influenza outbreak, paratyphoid, and two rounds of cancer.

Worldwide Recognition

Tanaka's remarkable longevity garnered recognition from the Guinness World Records, who certified her as the world's oldest living person in 2019. In September 2021, Spain's Saturnino de la Fuente García took over the title briefly before his passing.
