Paris Paralympics: Three Azerbaijani athletes set for action today
Baku 2015 gold medallist Ilham Zakiyev to compete in powerlifting
Three Azerbaijani athletes will be in action on day two of the Paris Paralympics, which began on Wednesday (August 24) and will run until September 5.
Ilham Zakiyev, who won a gold medal in powerlifting at the Baku 2015 European Games, will compete in the men's up to 65 kilograms event.
Vusal Safarov aiming to reach the podium in judo
Vusal Safarov will be competing in the men's up to 60kg judo event. Safarov has won a number of medals at international competitions, including a bronze at the 2019 IBSA Judo World Championships.
Sabina Abdullayeva in action in athletics
Sabina Abdullayeva will be competing in the women's 100m and 200m T12 events. Abdullayeva is a two-time Paralympic medalist, having won a silver in the 100m and a bronze in the 200m at the Rio 2016 Games.
The Paris Paralympics is the first major international sporting event to be held in the French capital since the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
