Bayer Leverkusen Interested in Bologna's Riccardo Calafiori

Bologna Set to Receive 40% of the Transfer Fee

Bayer Leverkusen has emerged as the latest club interested in signing Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, according to reports in Italy.

The 20-year-old left-back has been a key player for Bologna this season, making 25 appearances in all competitions and contributing to several clean sheets.

Calafiori's performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, including Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur. However, it is believed that Leverkusen is now the frontrunner to sign the Italy U21 international.

Bologna is reportedly willing to sell Calafiori for a fee of around €15 million. However, the Italian club will also receive 40% of the transfer fee, as Calafiori arrived from FC Basel last summer.

Calafiori is seen as a long-term replacement for Wendell at left-back. The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Leverkusen this summer, and Calafiori could be his ideal successor.

The signing of Calafiori would be a major coup for Leverkusen, who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.
