Derek Emmanuel Barbosa, better known by his stage name Chino XL, was an American rapper and actor known for his technically skilled lyricism and battle rapping abilities.

Born on April 8, 1974, Barbosa released his first single with the group Art Of Origin in 1992. He signed with Rick Rubin's label Def American in 1994 and released his debut album, "Here Come the Drums," in 1995.
