Athletics Seth Brown Out Again Versus Lefty

Athletics' Seth Brown: Out again versus lefty

Brown has been out of the Athletics' lineup since July 19

Brown is hitting .250 with six home runs and 30 RBIs this season

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland Athletics outfielder Seth Brown will miss another game on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox due to a left-handed pitcher starting for Chicago. Brown has been out of the Athletics' lineup since July 19 with a left oblique injury. Brown is hitting .250 with six home runs and 30 RBIs this season. He has been one of the Athletics' most consistent hitters, but he has struggled against left-handed pitchers, hitting just .200 with two home runs and six RBIs in 85 at-bats. The Athletics are hoping that Brown will be able to return to the lineup on Wednesday when the White Sox send right-hander Lucas Giolito to the mound. In the meantime, the Athletics will likely use Tony Kemp or Chad Pinder in left field. Kemp is hitting .260 with three home runs and 16 RBIs this season, while Pinder is hitting .240 with two home runs and 11 RBIs. The Athletics are currently in fourth place in the American League West, 15 games behind the first-place Houston Astros. They are hoping to make a run at a wild-card berth, but they will need Brown to be healthy and productive in order to do so.
