Diamondbacks Jake Mccarthy Taking Seat Tuesday

Diamondbacks' Jake McCarthy: Taking Seat Tuesday

Coming off his best season as a pro, Jake McCarthy is ready to take on a bigger role for the Diamondbacks.

The 25-year-old outfielder is expected to be the Diamondbacks' starting center fielder on Tuesday when they open the season against the San Diego Padres.

McCarthy has been one of the Diamondbacks' most consistent hitters over the past two seasons, batting .283 with a .355 on-base percentage and a .444 slugging percentage in 2023.

He also stole 22 bases and hit 15 home runs.

McCarthy's performance has earned him a spot in the Diamondbacks' Opening Day lineup, and he is excited to help the team get off to a good start.

"I'm just ready to get out there and play," McCarthy said. "I'm excited to be a part of this team and I'm ready to do whatever I can to help us win."

The Diamondbacks are counting on McCarthy to be a key part of their offense this season.

He is a good contact hitter who can also hit for power, and he is a good runner.

McCarthy is also a solid defender in center field.

With McCarthy in the lineup, the Diamondbacks have a young, talented player who can help them compete for a playoff spot.
