Lee Carsley: ‘I never saw sing the national anthem’ – and other priceless paper boy insights

Former Republic of Ireland assistant manager Lee Carsley has revealed he never saw Roy Keane sing the national anthem during his time playing with the Manchester United legend.

Former Republic of Ireland assistant manager Lee Carsley has given an insight into his time playing alongside Manchester United legend Roy Keane.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Monday Night Football podcast, Carsley revealed that he never saw Keane sing the national anthem during his time with the Republic of Ireland.

"I never saw Roy Keane sing the national anthem," Carsley said.

"I don't know if he did or not, but I never saw him do it."

Carsley also shared some other priceless insights from his time as a paper boy.

On being chased by a dog

"I was chased by a dog once. I was about 12 or 13 years old, and I was delivering papers on my round."

"I was walking down a street, and I saw this dog running towards me. I tried to run away, but the dog was faster than me."

"The dog caught up to me and started barking at me. I was so scared, but I didn't want to drop the papers, so I just kept running."

"Eventually, the dog got tired and gave up. I was so relieved, and I finished delivering the papers."

On being robbed

"I was robbed once. I was about 14 or 15 years old, and I was delivering papers on my round."

"I was walking down a street, and I saw two guys coming towards me. They were both wearing hoodies, and they had their faces covered."

"The guys stopped in front of me and demanded my money. I was so scared, and I didn't want to get hurt, so I gave them my money."

"The guys took my money and ran away. I was so shaken up, and I didn't know what to do."

"I eventually went home and told my parents what had happened. They were really angry, and they called the police."

"The police never caught the guys, but I was so grateful to my parents for supporting me."
